A look into regenerative farming and CropSafe's plans to integrate regenerative solutions in the future!
For thousands of years, farmers have been trying to increase crop yields and farm profits, but those efforts can sometimes adversely affect the environment. The solution may lie in regenerative farming practices. Regenerative farms work with nature to address the fundamental problems of agriculture: soil depletion and erosion, water scarcity, pollution, and climate change.
These practices involve restoring soil fertility by building soil organic matter through crop rotation and cover cropping, utilizing plant residues such as straw for soil-building mulches. planting cover crops and increasing carbon sequestration through better pasture management.
Regenerative farming practices may fit well with current agricultural technology. The benefits of new technology in terms of soil health are enormous. In the case of the no-till method, it includes reduced soil erosion, reduced energy requirements, reduced use of herbicides and pesticides, reduced fuel usage by farm equipment, increased wildlife habitat, and better water retention in soils.
CropSafe hopes to work with regenerative farmers to try and discuss ways in which innovation of agricultural technology can aid their practices. The use of predictive algorithms may well be a usable solution in the near future. By accurately predicting variables like rainfall, blight, or soil depletion levels, agricultural technology can increasingly reduce the volume of wastage that occurs in the farming process. By collating and analyzing large sums of weather data, the CropSafe app allows for more precise predictions on the state of increasingly turbulent weather patterns (due to global warming).
We believe it is our responsibility to try and aid in the fight against global warming alongside providing farmers with more reliable and trustworthy data for the management of their farms.
